Cake pops are easy to serve and easy to love, but the first question every host asks is the same: how many? Here is a simple way to work it out, plus the things that change the answer.
A starting estimate
- Cake pops as the only dessert: plan on 2 per guest.
- Alongside a cake or other desserts: 1 per guest.
- As party favors: 1 per guest, packed individually, plus a few extra for the host and helpers.
- Kids’ parties: count every guest who will have a treat, adults included, and adjust for the other food served.
Round up, not down
Round up by a few. Fifteen guests with cake pops as the only dessert means about 30 pops — round up by a few. These are planning examples, not pack sizes or minimums; Sarah confirms the final quantity. Ask for storage tips if you plan to keep leftovers (see how to store cake pops).
What changes the number
Time of day
An afternoon shower or an after-dinner gathering needs fewer treats than a party that replaces a meal. If guests arrive hungry, lean toward two per person.
Mix of treats
If you are also serving dipped Oreos or Rice Krispie treats, count the total: one or two treats per guest across everything on the table. A mix of styles looks fuller than the same number of a single treat.
Age of the guests
Adults tend to take one; teenagers take two; toddlers take one and put it down halfway. Plan accordingly.
Photos and the dessert table
A styled table needs a little abundance to photograph well. Add half a dozen pops to what the math says, or fill out the display with dipped Oreos and treat boxes.
A few worked examples
- Baby shower, 20 guests, cake pops plus a cake: 24 pops.
- Kids’ birthday, 15 children plus parents: 24–30 pops, some packed as favors.
- Wedding favors, 80 guests: 84–90 individually packed pops.
- Office treat for a team of 12: a boxed set of 12–18 pops or Oreos.
Ordering
When you message Sarah, send the guest count and whether cake pops are the main dessert or part of a spread. She will confirm the quantity, the quote and anything else worth knowing for your date. See custom cake pops and treat boxes and party favors for ideas.
